Within 24 hours of launching a new site, we typically get asked, "Why is the site not showing up in Google when I type in the company name?"
We know you love your new site, and we know you want to get as much traffic as soon as you can. We love your enthusiasm, and we encourage your patience. Why? Search engines need time to index your site. This can take a few days to several weeks, but there are some things that can be done to help speed up the process.
- Make sure your site has a sitemap and then submit that sitemap to Google. (If Keystone has created your new site, this has already been done.)
- If you are active on social media platforms, start posting about your new site. Encourage employees to do the same. These posts show up as inbound links to your site and can prompt search engines to crawl and index your site.
Not sure if you have been indexed? Type in site:www.yourdomain.com into Google. If you site has been indexed, your pages will be listed.
After you have been indexed, it is important to remember that adding new content is vital to your website's success. We suggest having a blog that allows you to update and inform your customers and prospective customers. Read all about the who, what, when, where and why of blogging.
