Seeing WordPress in a New Light

Forward by Eric Jackson:
It's time to fess up: I was wrong. WordPress is not hot garbage. Not even close. Sure, the Cleveland Browns could make you think football is a terrible sport, but that does not make it true. The large number of incompetent WordPress developers and terribly crafted websites left me with a false impression.
Enter Jason Torrence; Keystone's awesome new WordPress developer. We began the search for a WordPress developer who can perform at the high-level Keystone clients have come to expect. Welcome to the Keystone Family, Jason!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eric was wrong about WordPress. But he’s seen the light. And that’s why you’re hearing from me, the new WordPress developer at Keystone. I’d prefer to tell you about the reasons I love developing in WordPress, but I’m guessing that you don’t want to hear about PHP functions or built-in AJAX support. So here are some of the reasons that many of our clients choose WordPress as the best platform for growing their business.

It’s Powerful

We can do just about anything with WordPress, because it’s built on PHP, the programming language that’s behind the scenes on around 75% of the internet, including sites like Facebook and Wikipedia. WordPress is powerful, and it’s extensible, too. Want to add e-commerce to your site? Thinking of a members-only content area to increase customer loyalty? We can make it happen.

It’s Fast

Your new WordPress site will score among the top 5% of websites in a Google PageSpeed test. We don’t build sites from off-the-shelf theme templates, because they're almost always bloated and slow. We build on clean, minimal code, giving you the streamlined performance of a custom site with the powerful content management and SEO functionality that WordPress is known for.

Easy SEO

Search Engine Optimization isn’t automatic. It takes work, (and we do that, too), and some content management systems make that work harder by restricting access to elements that need to be optimized. In WordPress, we can optimize those elements easily. And we (or you) can also add new content easily, which means your site can start its climb to the top of Google’s search results.

Content & Customization

WordPress is more than a blogging platform. You should be able to update more than the blog, and you should be able to do it without fear of breaking something. There’s nothing worse than an “about-us” page that still features the employee who you fired two years ago, or a product page with items you stopped selling in 2007. But easy updates shouldn’t come at the expense of a great design. We can build a beautiful layout with user-friendly content fields that you can update with a few keystrokes and a click of the mouse.

Security

Eric was (mostly) wrong about WordPress, but he was right when he wrote that WordPress, like any CMS, can have security issues. Here’s a car analogy: Most stolen cars get taken because the owner left them unlocked, with the keys inside, and most website hacks happen because security updates were neglected for months. Simple precautions can prevent most issues, and if you don’t have time, we can configure automatic updates. Better yet, sign up for our Basic Hosting and let us handle it all for you! For us, security IS basic.

Now that Eric has seen the light, we’re in the WordPress business. But more than that, we’re in the business of providing the best solution for your needs. So drop us a line, tell us what you’re looking for, and we’ll give you honest advice about what website solution is best for growing your business.
