Call Park Features are Ready for Action

Microsoft Teams cloud voice calling has been an awesome feature for us and our clients. The cloud phone system has enabled us to move into the modern workplace with ease. One of the features that has been lacking in Microsoft’s cloud voice system is the ability to call park. For example, I have always wanted to stop a call at my desk, pick it up on my mobile phone, and get in the car. That really hasn’t been an option until lately. Microsoft has rolled out the Call Park feature for the Microsoft Teams Phone system. This requires some policy setup in the Teams Admin portal and the right mix of licenses (Phone System, E3 or above, domestic calling plan, and a smidgen of salt). Once you have these components in your phone system, you will be able to enable the Call Park features.

So what does this mean for you?

Before you had always been able to transfer calls to a user in your organization either with a standard transfer or a consult then transfer option.

Now you can still transfer calls, place them on hold, or park them. Once you park a call it gives you a park code.

Below you can see the Call Park option in the live call.

Once you hit Park call you will see the indicated call parking option at the top of the screen with the code you will need to pick it up.

Then you can pick up that call using the call park option on the right-hand side.

Then you enter the code and voila call park magic.

If you have an IP desk phone this park feature isn’t available just yet. It is slated for early next year which should coincide with the Poly release of CCX phones.

As it stands now, it works quite well and is a necessary feature add. I can park a call at my desk using the app and pick it up with my mobile. In the future, this will be another feature that helps businesses move into a more mobile workforce. If you need help implementing, reach out to our team and we can have a consult to discuss.
