Keystone Travels: Wrapping Up Spring

The Keystone team has been here, there, and everywhere this spring. Here’s some of the fun things we’ve been up to.

Gretchen – Family New York Trip

My family and I spent Spring Break in New York City. It was a spur of the moment trip fulfilling our kids’ dreams of seeing a “big city.” We decided to go five days before we left, packed the car, and headed out with hopes of subways, taxis, bright lights, interesting people, and skyscrapers. We spent 4 jam-packed days of walking and sightseeing in the Big Apple, and our kids absolutely loved it. They experienced several firsts:

  • First time driving in a nor’easter to get there
  • First train, subway, and ferry ride
  • First time seeing someone steal food at the train station
  • First time hailing a taxi
  • First time seeing a 75-year-old man in only spandex shorts rollerblading in 34-degree weather

Jamie – Maintaining a Sprawling Lawn

While I didn’t travel away from Tennessee this spring, I’ve been outdoors and adventuring around the lawn. Our 6 acre lawn comes with its own challenges and I’ve found these tools to be the most helpful when dealing with it.

Kathryn – Trip to St. Augustine

We went to Saint Augustine this spring. It is one of my parents’ favorite places, and they enjoyed showing us the oldest town in America. With colder water and lots of tourist activities planned, there wasn’t much opportunity for reading or relaxing on the beach, but during the road trips, we listened to two Audible books – The One and Only Ivan and the Wizard of Oz. I also caught up on industry news and flipped through several magazines.

Taylor – Visited Los Angeles

For the past year, my best friend and I have been living on opposite sides of the United States. This spring I finally got to visit her in California, and the trip was nothing short of amazing. Though we only had a few days, she managed to pack lots of SoCal experience in! Some of the highlights of the trip were seeing Ryan Reynolds star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, doing a Malibu Wine Hike, and visiting a very legit speakeasy bar (I talked about this on an episode of Stupid and Contagious). Overall, loved California and hope to visit again soon!
